"I was walking down Mercer Street with my dad when he spotted Einstein. Dad said to me, "I want you to meet a very great man." We crossed the street and as Einstein approached--hair askew and looking just as rumpled as he does on all those sweatshirts--Dad said, "Excuse me, Professor Einstein. My name is Alexander Simpson and I'd like to introduce you to my son, Mac." I of course had no idea who he was. We shook hands and chatted for a few moments about how old I was and how I was doing in school. I remember him as a very friendly and gracious man. Dad explained to me just who Professor Einstein was on the way home."
MacKinnon Simpson, March 14, 2009, Einstein's birthday.
Mac was born and raised in New Jersey and attended Princeton. Since arriving in Hawaii he has written over 20 books including WHALE SONG: The Story of Hawai'i and the Whales (1986), the first hard cover book created entirely on a Macintosh computer using Apple software. He worked with me on all three of my books: BACK DOOR WAIKIKI; KHJ: Inside Boss Radio; and OBAMALAND: Who Is Barack Obama?
